With heavy hearts, we are saddened to inform everyone that Cheri Chockley, Campus Director of the Jefferson City campus passed away on May 4, 2017. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cheri's family during this difficult time.
Cheri's introduction to Metro Business College came with an accreditation visit she participated in for her job with Missouri Department of Higher Education for their Proprietary Certification Division. She visited the Rolla campus along with a team of accreditors from across the country. In her job, she worked with the Advisory Committee for Proprietary Education where she met George Holske, President of Metro Business Colleges. Through her job she learned a great deal about private schools in Missouri and came to appreciate the contribution they made to the local workforce.
After six years with the department she left to run the Financial Aid Department at Linn State Technical College in Linn, Missouri. Her background as an audit specialist with the Department of Higher Education enabled her a run an efficient operation there. Through these years she maintained contact with friends at Metro Business College and was offered the opportunity to become the Director of the branch in Jefferson City in 2003.
She excelled at handling the duties involved in managing a school. She loved having the opportunity to help the students succeed and being able to learn all aspects of managing the business. Her background in education regulation made her an invaluable part of the Metro team. Through the years until she developed brain cancer she ran a successful operation in Jefferson City managing the development of new programs along with the Directors from the other campuses. She also coordinated the move of the campus to a new location 5 years ago.
Although the disability limited her activities during her valiant fight with cancer, she continued to manage the campus and teach classes to the end. Cheri's son, Randy, had joined the Metro Staff several years ago and will continue in Cheri's footsteps as the new Director of Metro Business College in Jefferson City.
At Metro Business Colleges we consider the students and staff to be family and Cheri will be missed for the all accomplishments she made with her "school family."
